Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, usually shortened to BJJ, is a grappling martial art built around controlling an opponent on the ground. Instead of relying on size or strength, it uses leverage, positioning, pressure and timing.

You will learn escapes, sweeps, pins, joint locks and chokes in a controlled training environment. Gi classes use the traditional jacket and trousers, while No-Gi classes use a rash guard and shorts and tend to be faster-paced.

Striking · The art of eight limbs

Muay Thai

Muay Thai is Thailand's national combat sport. It is known as the art of eight limbs because it uses punches, kicks, knees and elbows, together with close-range clinch skills.

Training develops balance, coordination, fitness and composure. Members practise technique on pads and bags before progressing to carefully controlled partner drills. Our current Muay Thai programme is available for young people aged 10–15.

Striking · Hands, kicks and knees

K-1 Kickboxing

K-1 kickboxing combines western boxing with powerful kicks and knee strikes. Compared with Muay Thai, it places more emphasis on fast combinations and movement, with limited clinch work and no elbow strikes.

It is beginner-friendly and one of the best ways to improve fitness while learning practical striking skills. You will develop stance, footwork, defence and combinations at a pace suited to your experience.

Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, brings striking and grappling together. It teaches you how to move safely between boxing and kicking range, takedowns, clinch work and ground fighting.

Sessions are structured and progressive rather than a free-for-all. Beginners build the individual skills first and learn how they connect. MMA training is available from age 16 and is suitable for recreational members as well as aspiring competitors.

Striking · The sweet science

Boxing

Boxing uses punches, footwork, head movement and defensive skills. It looks simple from the outside, but learning to move, attack and defend efficiently makes it one of the most technical striking arts.

Our classes suit people who want better fitness and sharper skills as well as those interested in competition. Beginners learn stance and basic combinations before progressing to partner work and controlled sparring.
